Botanical Illustrations
Orra White Hitchcock was a trained botanist and illustrator. After her marriage with Edward, she continued illustrating in her free time, either for other botanists, Hitchock's publications, or her personal projects, such as her Herbarium. Here is a collection of her uncategorized botanical drawings: leaves, flowers, and a lonely fungus. The work is detailed, immaculate, and speaks to her attentiveness and precision in rendering the plant life. In addition, these projects were sporadic, done in the few moments between being a mother and a wife of a busy college president.
